THE CHALLENGE
When local leaders decided to build a new performing arts center on Main Street, there was more than just funding that needed to be secured. The community needed to be engaged to ensure the theater met local needs. Business owners were eager to discuss how the project could revitalize downtown, art groups wanted to provide input on the impact on existing venues, and community members wanted to provide ideas for the final building design.
THE SOLUTION
By engaging in stakeholder outreach, the team generated and synthesized more than 1,300 comments that resulted in the defining elements of the Eccles Theater: public art, Regent Street access, Main Street’s first black box theater, and architecture that truly feels like Utah.
